Adriano Suspend For Controversial Goal

Milan were on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline in last Sunday's Milan derby, but there was controversy in the match as Inter's opening goal came off the arm of Brazilian striker Adriano.
On Tuesday, the Italian sports judge decided not to suspend Adriano for the bizarre goal and Carlo Ancelotti agreed with the ruling.
"It was the right decision," the ex-Parma coach told the Corierre dello Sport, seemingly more concerned with his side's UEFA Cup first-leg encounter in Germany against Werder Bremen.
"Against Inter, the physicality of their attackers caused us many problems. However, we played well, and this has to happen tomorrow, so we can get a good result."
Previously, Ancelotti had claimed the referee, Roberto Rosetti, had "penalised" the Rossoneri during the derby, but perhaps referring to other instances than the Nerazzurri's first goal.
Others have weighed in on both sides of the argument with Adriano himself claiming that the action was "inadvertent", but Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani was furious that the goal stood, while ex-Milan midfielder Demetrio Albertini believed the strike was legitimate.
